We stock all different types of Strapping. You may know this product line by another name like “Strap”, “Band”, or “Banding”. There are quite a few uses for this product, but we mostly see it used in bundling product together or securing product to a pallet. But we also see it used to reinforce containers like gaylords, crates, bins, totes, etc. Even though there are an almost infinite amount of options available when it comes to strapping, don’t worry about it. We’ll take the pressure off by finding the right strap for your application.
Steel Strap: Sometimes called “steel strapping”, “steel banding”, “metal strap”, “metal banding”, or some other variation of those terms, we stock quite a lot of Steel Strapping. Primarily available in Regular Duty and High Tensile, in widths from ½” to 2”, and in thicknesses from .015” to .044”. You can get it on coils that are oscillated wound or ribbon wound with cores designed to fit hand style dispensers or automatic machines. Though these are available with a “rounded” or “rolled” edge, you should still probably only handle steel strap with the gloves that provide the amount of Cut Protection as called out for by your Safety Team. (We can help with this!) Coils all normally weigh 100 lbs, unless we’re doing Jumbo Coils designed to work with machines. Typically, UOM us by the “lb” as opposed to by the foot, coil, or pallet. It’s almost always a black painted carbon steel, but is available in other materials. Can also be painted in other colors, as well as custom printed. Steel Strap can be used with either seals, or a crimped “sealless” joints. And many different tool options… manual, pneumatic, and battery. Not as confusing as it sounds. Call us to help you figure it all out!
PET Strap: Also known as “polyester strap”, “plastic strapping”, “green banding”, or some other mixture of those words. PET is a great option if it fits your application. Many different options, styles, and colors. But, ultimately, if you’ve never tested PET Strap then please reach out to us. We may be able to save you some money from what you’re currently using. And if you’re currently using PET, but you’re using it with seals, then stop reading this right now and call us. We need to schedule a time to demo a battery powered combo tensioner/friction weld/cutoff tool. Though these tools are not the cheapest things in the world, if you care even a little bit about labor costs, then you will like what we show you!
PPE Strap: Again with the other names, this line is also known as “polypropylene strap”, “poly strapping”, “poly banding”, or something like those. PPE Strap has many different uses. Somewhat similar to PET Strap, PPE Strap may be the best solution for what you’re doing. Who knows. Call us to schedule a time to find out.
Poly Cord: May also be referred to as “Polycord”, “Cord Strapping”, “Cord Strap”, or similar. Poly Cord is available in a variety of widths, thicknesses, lengths, colors, etc and can be used with tensioning tools and buckles. If you’re unsure as to whether Poly Cord is right for you then please reach out to us so we can help.
Grades: If you see MG then that almost always means Machine Grade and you can guess what that is designed to be used in conjunction with. HG, which means Hand Grade, is applied by hand and coils are normally mounted onto mobile carts/dispensers.
Cores: The “ID” of the coils, core sizes are fairly consistent, depending on what type of machine or hand cart/dispenser it will be mounted on.
Embossed: You’ll see this as an option in PET and PPE Strap. Basically, it means that the strap has a textured pattern on its face, as opposed to “Smooth” strap, which is… smooth. Embossed Strap normally works better with friction weld tools. And, in manual applications, it also provides a little more friction for the seal to attach too. Only downside that I’m aware of is that it may not have quite as much break strength.
AAR: American Association of Railroads. If you see this stamped on your strap then it means the strap has been certified for use over rail.
Tools: LOTS of different options here. We can help. Call us. Go ahead… Call us. We’ll help!
Equipment: Again, lots of options here. But we’re here to help you. Call us. Email us. Send us a letter. Leave us a note in Homeroom class. I don’t care how you do it, but just get in contact with us so we can help!
